16-year-old phenom pays tribute to a mentor
Grace Kelly has no right to play her horn as well as she does given her age: 16, which is difficult to believe. The saxophonist, composer, singer and arranger backed up by a New Mexico rhythm section deeply impressed a packed house at the Outpost Performance Space in Albuquerque last night. Kelly, who has already recorded five CDs, is in New Mexico to perform a tribute concert for one of her mentors, the late, great saxophonist Frank Morgan, who spent some of his last years in Taos, N.M. The Grace Kelly Quartet takes the stage at the historic Taos Inn at 7 p.m. Monday, June 22. Follow this link to Kelly’s website.
