Hold the beans and pie, please

Hisarönü, Turkey, where I arrived less than 36 hours ago, is as much as tourist town as any I’ve seen and is swarming with western Europeans, including many overweight Brits, restaurants advertising eggs wıth beans for breakfast (and even shepherd’s pie for chrissake),souvenir and T-shirt shops, and tour guides. The bars were still teeming when I rolled into Wednesday sometime after 3 a.m. Later that day a young man from northern England who showed me the location of an internet café told me the nightlife doesn’t start until midnight. “I haven’t seen a morning since I got here,” he said, nursing a hangover he was going to reinvest in later.
