Cutting the lawn under the Kabul sun

The men danced at the AUAF national staff appreciation picnic hosted by international staff and faculty (or at least most of them; a few malcontents resisted) but the only women who took to the lush dance floor were Westerners. This was the first time for the event and weather cooperated marvelously. Clear sunny days in Kabul, I have discovered, are surprisingly rare. There is one more week of classes and, for some, a finals week before the academic year is nigh. Some faculty will be shipping out within a week, most to the States, but some elsewhere, like Russia, India and Italy.
