Pummelled palace as national metaphor

Darul Aman Palace, built in the 1920s under the reign of King Amanullah Khan, overlooks the proposed site for the new AUAF campus. The neoclassic al structure was first gutted by fire in 1969, restored, only to be destroyed again during in the early 1990s. The Darul Aman Foundation proposes another restoration with the intent of it serving as the new Afghan parliament building.
