Squatters live in a collapsed, roofless building on the proposed site for the new AUAF campus in Kabul and their children ran out to greet a friend and I as we ran around the perimeter of the property on Friday. The boys ran up to us, exchanged greetings, and shook our hands, but the girls and the youngest boys stood silently in the background.
