I did my first round of grocery shopping yesterday, accompanied by a driver and an escort, and encountered piles of the largest heads of cauliflower I have ever seen. Fresh fruits and vegetables and freshly baked bread are plentiful and cheap in Kabul. One Afghan fellow I met said he didn’t realize until he went to the United States that he had been eating organic produce his entire life.
