Several weeks ago, Fernando C de Baca, at the time the chairman of the Bernalillo County Republicans but never a historian, explained why Hispanics won’t vote for Barak Obama. “The truth is that Hispanics came here as conquerors,” he told the BBC. “African-Americans came here as slaves. Hispanics consider themselves above blacks. They won’t vote for a black president.”
