On and on across the universe

The rain poured all night, the most in more than a month, filling everything in the yard remotely shaped like a container and put off my foothills run until about 8:30, well beyond normal time, so I ended up drinking too much coffee and reading too much despairing news, sprinkled with pricelessly insignificant sports, waiting for the skies to clear, which they never did for long, but for long enough to meet Kathy at the trailhead for our ritual weekend run, north along the Sandia wilderness boundary and back and the closest thing in my life to a regular spiritual experience and all the moreso because it insists upon physical and psychological discipline.
