Mornings, I am often "happy" to awaken at all...not that the day portends much, and not that the night posed any special dangers; just another night passed, another day persists. Comforting weight of dog on the bed, who moves, slightly, to regard me, affectionately (I think). Tail taps. The light grows, and I'm up. I have always found myself wanting to avoid the word. <br />Gratefulness is a word I connect with more.
